Phil Hunter joined the police mainly because he didn't fancy jail - he figured he was much less likely to get nicked if he was making money and calling in favours from within the very institution that would've kept their eye on him had he operated on the outside. Phil's an opportunist who will use any means (dodgy or otherwise) to get what he wants. He's cocky and overconfident, which can sometimes be his undoing. He's not an out-and-out criminal; he just can't resist exploiting a business opportunity that comes his way and given that he knows a huge cross section of people from all walks of life, all manner of offers are there for the taking.
Although he's married, Phil is a real charmer and can't resist a good chat up. Chasing women is another sport to him although he doesn't shag around as much as he'd like to make out. Having the reputation for it is nearly as good as the real thing but without the danger.
Phil's such an effective copper because it takes a thief to catch a thief. He grew up in a housing estate in Leyton, the son of a builder's merchant.
Recently, Phil and ex-wife Cindy were trying for a baby but Phil was mortified when they discovered he was firing blanks. Their relationship blew apart when Cindy found out that Phil already had a four year-old daughter - the product of an affair with the wife of a boxing promoter and small-time crook. Phil has made his worst enemy yet. |
